What are some environmentally-forward cities in the US?

I'm thinking of moving soon. I'm an environmental scientist and would like to live in a city (large and urban) where the environmental movement is fairly big, both for availability of work and to be on the "cutting edge." What are some of the most environmentally-forward or environmentally-friendly cities in the US? What are some abroad? (I'd consider an international move but there's a 99.7% certainty it will only be within the US.)
