Any tips for starting ballet?

I'm interested in trying out ballet, unfortunately I don't meet a lot of the prerequisites for the activity. If I wanted to shape up before taking cles. Is there a solid dieting/exercising regiment I should start? Like should I focus more on running, swimming, or something else for cardio? Any thing else? What sort of diet works best with ballet? High or low carbs?
